Summary:
Introduce the difference between open industrial gear oil and closed industrial gear oil. The factors to be paid attention to when selecting gear oil are temperature, speed, load, gear type, and water pollution. Gear oil filter can choose TYL series.     Industrial gear oils are classified into closed industrial gear oils and open industrial gear oils depending on the application. As the name implies, closed gear oils are used in closed gearboxes; open gear oils are suitable for low speed heavy duty gear units without gearboxes or semi-closed gearboxes. Closed gear oil viscosity grades are classified by 40°C kinematic viscosity, while open gear oils are classified by 100°C kinematic viscosity. The two also have different performance requirements. In addition to the conventional physical and chemical performance requirements, the closed gear oil pays special attention to the requirements of extreme pressure wear resistance and oxidation stability; while the open gear oil requires good adhesion and internality. Polymerization is not available in closed gear oil. So there is a difference in use.
Selection of industrial gear oil
The selection of industrial gear oil should mainly consider the following factors:
1. Temperature, low temperature selection of thin oil with small viscosity number, high temperature selection of heavy oil with large viscosity number; at the same time, it must be considered that the pour point of gear oil should be 3-5 °C lower than the ambient temperature.
2. Speed, the gear speed is fast, choose the thin oil with small viscosity, and the slow speed is the heavy oil with large viscosity.
3. Load, heavy oil is more resistant to heavy loads and impact loads. In addition to viscous oils, oils with extreme pressure additives provide better protection for gears at the same viscosity, such as L-CKD heavy duty industrial gear oils from Great Wall.
4. Gear type, straight tooth, helical tooth, herringbone tooth, bevel gear, when rotating, it is easy to form liquid oil film to avoid direct contact of metal; worm gear and hyperbolic gear rotate laterally when rotating, which is not conducive to maintaining liquid oil film. Especially at high loads, it is necessary to select oils with high viscosity, high oiliness, and extreme pressure additives, such as worm gear oil and gear oil of the high viscosity L-CKD type, and even use vehicle gear oil in accordance with APIGL-5.
5. Moisture pollution, gearboxes that may enter the water should choose L-CKD type gear oil with good water separation performance.
The specific viscosity grade and oil change period should refer to the lubricant recommendation in the equipment manual. The viscosity grades commonly used for medium and heavy duty gear lubrication are: 150#, 220#, 320#, 460#. For places where oil change is not convenient, consider using fully synthetic industrial gear oil to extend the oil change period or use the applicable gear oil filter.
